With your help, we can continue bringing people together to create paths for positive change.
Earlier this month, I joined 150 passionate people at our sold-out fall conference on the urgent need for both affordable housing and preservation of open space in the Hudson Valley. It was inspiring to look out from the podium at the intergenerational assembly of citizens, farmers, planners, housing advocates, builders, and political leaders. Despite their highly diverse backgrounds and perspectives, everyone was united by the conviction that people in our communities have a right to affordable housing and that we all have a responsibility to conserve open spaces and protect the environment.
This is the essence of what makes a Mohonk Consultations event unique and impactful; the conversations at our conferences and forums work to bring out the shared values at the heart of a complex question or issue. Time and time again over our 43 years, we have seen this common ground serve as a foundation for the development of lasting collaborative solutions.
Download our 2023 newsletter for specific details about last week’s conference as well as our recent programs on universal basic income, the plastic pollution crisis and our basic human right to—and shared responsibility for—the natural world. It has been a busy year, full of positive and effective programs and we have plans underway to build on this momentum throughout 2024.
In these increasingly divided and polarized times, Mohonk Consultations’ work to invite people to “talk it over at Mohonk” and create paths for positive change is more important than ever. As an independent, volunteer-driven nonprofit*, we rely on contributions to sustain and expand our efforts to highlight the voices of solution-seekers, uplift community conversations, and inspire everyone to remain open to new ideas, new language and new stories.
