2009 Conference: Hunger in the Hudson Valley—How Can We Help?

Made connections between many stakeholders in the process of producing and transporting food, including farmers, gleaners, food service administrators, food pantries, and kitchens. Attended by UlsterCorps, FAMILY of Woodstock and the Rondout Valley Growers Association, this gathering in many ways was the inception of the UlsterCorps Farm to Food Pantry Collaborative, which has distributed many hundreds of thousands of produce to food pantries, shelters, and community meal programs in the Hudson Valley. A central component of the program is the recruiting, training and coordinating of volunteers to assist with gleaning, processing and distribution.
